Biotin is a component of hair, skin and nails and is therefore responsible for their appearance, but its role in the body does not end there. Vitamin B7 contributes to the normal metabolism of energy and macronutrients, and also influences the functioning of the nervous system. Biotin deficiencies manifest themselves in hair loss and brittle nails, among other symptoms.
