• Fish oil - from deep-sea fish (anchovies and sardines). Thanks to distillation, it is free of pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls and heavy metals. Omega-3s include: DHA, or docosahexaenoic acid, and EPA, or eicosapentaenoic acid (it is the substrate for the production of DHA). Both acids are found in oily fish, including mackerel, anchovies, salmon and cod. Also in algae and seaweed.
• Lutein - a yellow pigment belonging to the carotenoid group. In the human body, it is accumulated in the macula - responsible for its normal function.
• Zeaxanthin - an organic chemical compound classified as a carotenoid. Zeaxanthin accumulates in the macula, which is why adequate levels are so important.
